We hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July, celebrating our freedom in the most wonderful country on earth! We went to a little celebration with some of the couples, and it was a perfect day, it had rained real hard in the morning, and the celebrating started around 4:00, and there was a cool breeze, and it was so pleasant, especially to be outside all the time! They had a Philippine marching band, that played American songs, and marched around, and they were very good, and entertaining!
They had some jugglers that were good as well, some children dancing and singing, a popular singer, and then an old mans band, that sang country western songs, and etc! they were fun to watch and weren't all that bad! They had food booths and games and booths with things for sell, and a little bit of everything, making it feel like America! Then a great fireworks show! We had fun just relaxing and watching people!
The office surprised us on Friday morning, with balloons, signs on my door, a rose, a big Birthday cake, that was delicious, a card, and singing Happy Birthday to me several times! I was really surprised, and it was fun! Then Richard said we really need to celebrate, so we ordered 6 pizza's, and dad and 2 of our office guys, ran to KFC and bought 4 buckets of chicken, and we came back to our conference room at 12:30 , and ate and shared the cake! It was great, and amazing how many people heard about the party, and showed up! We had a good time! I got a little magnet that said,,IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES, and they sure know how to have fun!! It was so kind of them, and thoughtful! We have really grown to love the travel team, and they are so much help to Richard, and all the travel arrangements he has to make!
On my Birthday, several couples from our zone left at 7:00 AM to go on a sight seeing tour! We traveled to Alongapo to the Clark museum, and then on to Capas National shrine, had a catered lunch in Bacolor, that was authentic Kapampangan food, and it was not good, and it cost 400 pesos a person! I guess some people liked it, but we didn't, Fish with skin and heads,a little pork on bones that we didn't recognize, BBQ pork and fat, some strange bitter veggies cooked in coconut milk, baked whole chicken that was cut the wrong way! thick desert pudding with pieces of pumpkin in it! Rice of course! Richard drove a Van, with a couple of couples, and we got back to the office at 5:00 PM. When we got home Richard took me out to TGI Fridays for a birthday dinner! It was a fun day!
I am old now though, but I have a feeling since I don't feel any different, that I am going to love the 70's! However, one Filipino couldn't believe I was 70, and came back and said, you should be in a wheelchair, and oxygen hooked up to your nose, he just couldn't believe it! Made my day!
Thanks for all the e-mails, and Birthday wishes you sent me, and the phone calls! It seems like I am so blessed and grateful for your appreciation for me, but it humbles me so much, and I don't feel worthy of the wonderful family the Lord has blessed me with, now I am tearing up again, it seems I have been quite emotional lately. Turning 70 will do that to you! thanks to all of you, I love you all so much, and I love your dad too, He means the world to me, and he makes being on a mission, and serving the Lord, so enjoyable! I am so grateful for him! Thanks again to all of you!
We heard that Richmonds Farewell was wonderful! We talked to Brad today, and he said they sure had fun with Jason and Ted and their families! They missed all the rest, but understood! It would have been great to have been there, and feel of the sweet spirit we always feel when we go to the ST George Andersons!
We are praying for all of you that are traveling, and for Susie and her girls camp, for the Andersons that are taking Richmond to the MTC. We pray for our wonderful missionaries, and our College kids, out teenagers, our little ones, and our great grandchildren, for Hanna and Susie in their Pregnancies! I could go on and on with our prayers, but mostly , Dad and I are so grateful for all our blessings to have such a wonderful family! Please take care of each other and your selves, and be safe and wise in all you do! Always keep a close eye on the little ones, they are so precious and bring so much happiness to all of us! All of you make us so proud and happy, because of your goodness! We love you!
Thanks for your support and love!
