Day 1...4-24-15
Day 1, We are here, this is us! When we landed my watch said 6:30 AM, so it was 24 hours after Doug dropped us off at the airport! We were met by Elder and Sister Lacanieta, and it didn't take very much time for all the memories to come back! The noise, the smell, the traffic, people rummaging through the garbage at 11:00 at night, did I mention the traffic, horns honking, cars coming so close you hold your breath, and cars going every where! All of our luggage made it, our ankles swollen, and very tired! The couple took us to our temporary apartment, which is nice, but old. The kitchen is like a hallway with a fridge, stove, drain container, one sink, and tiny cabinet top on one side, and 2 feet of floor space, and a wall, just like a hallway with one side being the kitchen! The other couples pooled together and had a supply of some food for us, which was so nice, Don't know how I will cook in the small kitchen! Not one drawer in the whole apt. just a few sheves, and short closets! The rent is paid for for 3 more weeks, and we have to find a place to live, in that time! The bed was comfy, and we slept well once we got to bed at midnight!
Wide awake at 4:30, and needed the time to find things in our suitcases, get ready and be out to the curb by 7:30! Elder and Sister Arner picked us up and we headed to our new office! It is beautiful, and we have a perfect view of the Temple, and we love it! Had a meeting with the Area Presidency, and President Shane Bowen took us in his office and we reminisced, over old times, and had a good talk! All three men in the Presidency are wonderful! Got our car, which is a bright red , brand new Toyota, and all the couples want it because theirs is gray! They have been getting computers hooked up and working and put in our names with our information, and etc! Everyone so nice! We didn't go to immigration today because they were too busy!
We have been given so much information today, and met so many people, that it is hard to wrap my brain around it all! Richard is amazing, getting his own touch to his responsibilities! Everyone is so helpful and I appreciate it so much! Have seen a couple of our missionaries, and it is great to see them!
I need to find a nich for me and the things I can do to help and assist Richard in his busy, busy work!
Thank you for all your support and love in getting us on this mission, we are so grateful for a wonderful family and all you do for us!
We loved Julia's letter and pictures! We are praying for all of you, and we love you all, and miss you! Write when you can! It is 3:35 here, and 1:35 AM there, and I am starting to feel the tired bug!
Love,
Elder and Sister Anderson,
Mom and Dad
Grandpa and Grandma
