This is what we see out our office window in the early morning! It is so beautiful!
Hi Family, Kumusta Po Kayo? ( How are you?)
We are fine! The Typhoon petered out when it got to the Philippines, so our area, didn't even get rain! We did have some Mission Presidents that needed to move some of their missionaries away from the water! Prayers are answered when the Typhoon doesn't hit the Philippines! Thanks for your prayers and concern.
It has been a busy 2 weeks! Richard is constantly busy, and spends at least 14 hours a day behind his computer,or talking to Mission Presidents, or making flight arrangements, or talking to Salt Lake, trying to solve different situations! Something new, that we didn't have when we were here before was Visa waiters, mostly going to India, or Asia! They have to be accounted for, arrangements made when their Visa's come, and etc. Needless to say, it has been interesting, and a little confusing for everyone, and Presidents with their transfers and etc.Especially when the missionaries haven't been taught Tagalog! I am so proud of Richard and his patience and understanding with all the demands on him! He is enjoying his work, and it seems like there is a magnet to the computer, that draws him in! It reminds me of when I was Temple coordinator, I couldn't wait to get back to my work on the computer. Emily may be the only one that witness that. We are so grateful we have access to his work at our apartment!
We went to China Town a week ago with a couple, and the poverty of some of the people made me want to cry! We saw families sleeping on the sidewalks as we walked by, even babies, they were so dirty, and had bites all over them, and flies and what ever on them, just sleeping there on a piece of cardboard! We had to walk around them! Lots of stores by the walks selling Mostly jade jewelry, and budda
monks or what ever they are called, they have the fat bellies! We didn't buy any souvenirs, we had a good time, but saw so many poor people living on the streets! All of them have little ones, that run around and play, and have no clue of their problems!
Last Friday, I was working at the MTC for intake day! They have 2 lady Dr. that read their information, and 3 nurses that give them shots, then I record what shots they got, and file their cards, and give them some yummy cookies! One darling Sister from India, called me over, and she just clung to me and hugged me while she got the shots, there were a few Filipinos that cried, while I held their hands! They hate shots! The air con in the room was so freezing, so when there was a lul I stepped out in the hall, and was looking at the wall with all MTC Mission Presidents, and one of the nurses, came out and ask me who the founder of our Church was. I told him Jesus Christ, and in the Latter days the Church was restored by Joseph Smith and then we got talking about Joseph Smith, and I said, Would you like to know more? Would you like the missionaries to come to your home and teach you, he said yes to all my questions! I got so excited, and took his name and address and told him some missionaries would be contacting him! I just got little chills, and I can't wait for the next in take day, to ask him if the missionaries came! Being in the office with all LDS, we don't get much chance to do that! I got a referral, yah! That was fun!
Dad and I walked over to the temple Friday Afternoon to do a session, was asked to be the witness couple. Loved it. The room only holds 25, and there was a older couple taking their endowment out, and were sealed after! The spirit was so strong! I am so grateful for temples!
Time out!! We just had an earth quake drill, we had to tuck our heads down, and then a warden came and told us how to exit the building, we all collected in a big yard behind our building. All the MTC missionaries and all the workers here, we filled the yard! We all went in our groups, and were accounted for, then we got to go back to the air con office! It is so hot!! During Holy Week they installed this alarm in our buildings, so I guess they had to try them out!
Last Sat. we got up early and drove to Lipa, which is in our mission! We watched Sat. morning session with the Lipa Saints, and saw so many full time missionaries! I couldn't help but think about Julia, Davis, Griffen and Richmond, being so good, faithful and obedient! My heart was full! I love missionaries and the work they are doing!
We had an hour to shop in Lipa, and it was so fun, because I knew right where to go to get what I needed, and get my watch battery replaced, and it felt so comfortable, and familiar! I found so many things I needed , and couldn't find in the fancy stores! I was a happy camper!! It was so good to be in our mission, but we both commented on the fact that we were glad we weren't still there as mission President!
Conference was wonderful! Sunday, instead of going to our Stake Center, we enjoyed watching it at home on our computer! It was a very relaxing day for me, but when conference wasn't on, Richard was doing his work! It seems a lot happens on the week-ends!
Every day we run into someone we know, either missionaries, or people from the stakes and branches, or people that know us, or remember us! It is amazing!
This week is Mission Presidents Seminar, and we are invited, I have asked the Wives to come with their information on the CLS program, so I can learn more! Richard is anxious to meet all the Presidents he has been communicating with! We have been to these before in a different capacity, and this will be a good break, but a different experience for us!
We have family home evening tonight with all the couples in our area, and that should be fun, and is always interesting! We are schedule to give one in July! We are happy and busy, busy with doing our work and helping others! Thanks again for all your support and prayers, and love! It is so nice to talk to some of you, and hear what is going on! We love you, and hope to be able to hear from you soon!
Love, Mom and Dad
